How to Choose Stencil Material

MYLAR VS. VINYL STENCILS

This will help you determine whether a Mylar or Vinyl stencil is most suitable for your project.

	MYLAR	VINYL
The material:	A semi-transparent, durable Mylar polyester plastic.	A thin white vinyl film with a low-tack adhesive on a blue backing.
	A semi-transparent, durable Mylar polyester plastic.
Most common usage:	Primarily used to repeat a message or design several times. Or stencil the same message at different times.	One-time usage for stenciling custom lettering.
Advantages:	Re-usable and washable Relatively easy to work with Won't easily tear or stretch	Good for stenciling long messages with "bridgeless" letters Bridgeless Mylar Bridge Low-tack adhesive backing which allows it to stick to most surfaces and minimize the risk of paint leaking in under the stencils Available on long sheets up to 10 feet.
